This page explains what data may be collected on Le Recul, why, how long it is kept, and how to exercise your rights.

Reference version
Le Recul is published from France and this policy is governed by French law and the GDPR. This page is an English translation provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy, the French version is the one that applies.
Data controller
The data controller is the publisher of the Le Recul website.

Data collected
Le Recul has no user accounts. The personal data collected is limited to what the services require:
- through the contact forms: name, email address, type of request or problem, the URL concerned if you provide it, subject and message;
- when subscribing to the newsletter: email address;
- through audience measurement, after consent: browsing data useful for traffic analysis, such as the pages viewed, where the traffic came from, the device type or the browser used.
Why this data is used
The data is used to:
- reply to messages sent through the contact forms;
- send the newsletter to people who subscribe to it;
- measure the site's audience, understand which content is read and improve Le Recul.
Legal bases:
- contact forms: legitimate interest in answering the requests we receive;
- newsletter: consent;
- audience measurement: consent.
Contact forms
The forms available on the Contact page are used solely to handle the request you send.
We ask you to send only the information needed to deal with your message, and not to include sensitive data that serves no purpose.
Newsletter
When you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is used solely to send you the content you asked to receive.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email.
Audience measurement and cookies
Le Recul uses Google Analytics to measure the site's audience, see which pages are read and understand where traffic comes from.
Trackers related to audience measurement are only activated after your consent. You can accept, refuse or change your choice through the cookie settings provided on the site.
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited. Data may be processed by Google as part of that service.
Retention periods
Data is kept for limited periods, depending on its purpose:
- contact messages: up to 12 months after the last useful exchange;
- newsletter: until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent;
- user-level and event-level Google Analytics data: up to 14 months.
These periods may only be extended where a legal obligation or the defence of legal rights justifies it.
Recipients
The data is accessible only to the people authorised to handle the requests received and, where necessary, to the technical providers involved in:
- hosting the site;
- delivering emails;
- sending the newsletter;
- measuring the audience.
Le Recul does not sell its readers' personal data.
Your rights
You may request access to your data, or its rectification, erasure, restriction, or object to its processing, where those rights apply.
You may also withdraw your consent at any time for the newsletter and for audience measurement.
